Remembering Medicine Creek

Video featuring Billy Frank, Jr., and David Nicandri

Produced in 1998 by the Washington State Historical Society and Lawrence Johnson Productions, this video examines the treaties made between Isaac Stevens, in his role as Governor of Washington Territory, and the Indian tribes of the region. Billy Frank, Jr. presents the Native American perspective, and discusses the fishing wars of the late 60s and early 70s. David Nicandri discusses the rights the treaties impart to all citizens —not just the Indians— of the Northwest.
