Captain William Slaughter is shot and killed on the upper White and Green rivers. December 5, 1855 Cayuse leader Peopeomoxmox comes to parley with William Kelly of the Oregon Mounted Volunteers and is seized along with five of his men. December 6, 1855 Peopeomoxmox is killed by Oregon Mounted Volunteers and subsequently mutilated.
